There is no drug injected or coated on the needle, so acupuncture utilizes the body’s own healing powers to balance the body. 

One can think of the needles as little antennae that send signals to the brain and body to guide healing and attention to certain areas. 

Sometimes the body is lost and confused about what to do, and the acupuncture needles create some ‘instructions’ for the body to start the healing process!
