Dr. Kody Chen, DACM, MSTOM, LAc, Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM)®
Kody Chen obtained both his Doctorate and Master’s degrees from the Pacific College of Health and Science (PCHS). He also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry from Bard College. During his clinical training at PCHS, Kody attended an externship at Kamwo Meridian Herbs, one of the largest herbal dispensaries on the east coast. He learned a lot about the supply chain for herbs and how Kamwo maintains Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for all its herbal products. Kody also completed an observership at China Medical University Hospital in Taichung, Taiwan, where he learned how Traditional Chinese Medicine was being used in a hospital setting. The doctors were not only great sources of inspiration, but also expanded Kody's horizons by introducing different styles of acupuncture or Chinese Medicine treatments that he did not encounter before in the United States.
Kody believes that one of the biggest strengths of Chinese medicine is its flexibility in treatment and the ability to tailor treatments for individual patients' needs. He is experienced in treating a wide range of conditions, from orthopedic musculoskeletal issues to internal medicine. His personal interest is in Chinese herbal medicine, following traditional texts such as the Shang Han Lun to adapt these ancient herbal formulas to treat modern diseases
Vision and Mission
Our philosophy is based around patient-centered care. The patient should feel like they are also in control of their treatment plan and that we are working together to achieve their health goals. One of the strengths of Traditional Chinese Medicine is flexibility in treatment methods and modalities, allowing for a wide range of treatment options that can be adjusted for patient preference. We believe that patients should never feel forced into doing a treatment. They should decide for themselves rather than blindly following what a practitioner tells them they should do. We encourage patients to find and try out other treatment options if they are not satisfied with their current plan. The patient is an active participant in their path to optimal health and it is a journey we assist them in however we can.
Vision: To help patients achieve their health goals and live fulfilling lives
Mission: To use acupuncture and herbal medicine to tailor treatments to the individual so that they may live a more healthy and balanced life.
